Discontinuity of the Parks
Inspired by a short story by Julio Cortazar, an old man visits each of Amsterdam’s 33 parks. Anticipating a discontinuity to come, he walks each one thoroughly, recording their picture both in summer and in winter. He watches mothers pushing their baby-strollers, youths running fully focused, children getting together to play once again after some days. They may not remember the lonely walker with his small camera, but mostly he will remember them and remain grateful for their company. They deserve a farewell worth their image now that bells are tolling the inevitable warning of his discontinuity.
