Tibetan Health Care
In 1996, with an introduction from a Tibetan Alternative Center in Amsterdam, we were invited by the Tibetan Medical and Astrological Institute, based in Dharamsala, India. We travelled by bus from New Delhi to Dharamsala and stayed in a small hotel kept by Tibetan monks nearby in McLeod Ganj. Every day we walked to Dharamsala and some other villages where the Tibetan community in exile have found places to stay, build schools, private clinics, old age homes and even other allopathic hospitals where some English and Australian doctors worked. For a month we visited both kind of health care centres, schools and other institutions for elderly people and youths with psychiatric problems.
